Floral Fun

Now for something a little less serious.. I’m getting more and more interested in the potential of wet drawing media, namely ink and water colour. There changeable, unpredictable characteristics when water is added in the mix have much textural scope. Here are some light hearted experimentation’s. Mostly with a floral theme. Plus two drawings I made on a loverly afternoon in the garden, heaven.

Found a pencil illustration of a face I made about 10 years ago. Instead of binning it I thought I’d jazz it up a bit. No really relevant to any thing I’m working on now.

These where drawn from Zinnias in a gardening magazine. A bit twee. The poppies drawn from life are more successful. I’m using the water-colour splashes to represent pollens and seed parachutes floating of the breeze that gives the heady armour of summer on a warm day. Plus I just like making a mess!

Line- Poppies – fine liner and water colour. Back ground whitened in photo shop, the illustration is hand rendered. Drawn from life sitting in the garden under big golf brolly to stop the sun glare on the white page.

Tone – Tonal study of poppies from life – wish I had more time on this one.

Thinking about separating line and tone in preparation for assignment 4
