Project 7 Self Portrait: Check and Log

• Which drawing materials produced the best results? Why? 

All of the drawing materials I used have there strengths and weaknesses. Pencils and pens have fine points so are good for hatching and detailed work. pastels and charcoal excel at getting large masses down quickly.

• Does your self portrait look like you? Show it to a couple of friends or family members and note down their comments. 

The green one looks quite like me. Although I hope I don’t always look this crazy. I don’t think i will show them to any one. at the end of the coarse they are heading to the incinerator!

• Did you find it easy to convert your sketches into a portrait? 

I would have liked more time on this as I think I was just starting to get to grips with a basic understanding of form and structure of head. I need to go back and draw a some pages of facial features from master works, life drawing add books such as Bridgmans  and from life.

• Were your preliminary drawings adequate? 

No. All these drawing where pretty rubbish. Needs a lot more practise.
