Went to a great life drawing class on Monday night. Bethnal Green London life drawing runs from 7.00-9.30 p.m.. It is headed by a lively and insightful tutor Adrian Dutton who feed us anecdotes about artists, Buddhism and the relationship between the model and the drawer as we worked.
I had a really good session and am pleased with the results. I used an A3 sketch book, Charcoal stick and an B2 graphite stick that wasn’t much cop. We worked from two models at the same time which lead to so interesting interaction poses between the two. This was especially good for the longer poses as there where two forms to contend with and the added challenge of scaling one against the other and placing them in the right space to indicate depth of field. Another helpful thing was the spot light used to enhance cast shadow and high light. Making the figures a delight to draw. I will certainly attend this group again.
