St. Ives – First attempt, A bit Bright!

Ink wash and line in A4 sketch pad. Each drawing aprox A5

I enjoyed this exercise and used it as a chance to start trying to refine my drawing using ink and wash that I have previously experimented with. I like the texture created when ink bleeds on all ready wet paper so used that here. Also embellished with some splashing, just because I like the look. The first attempt (bottom image) is a bit of a colour head ache. So for the next few I experimented with limited pallet which is more pleasing. The reference material used was so photos from St. Ives and Penzance. I’v been using old snaps I have on the hard drive as the bad weather has persuaded me to stay in doors.
